Experience Story

Here you can find a written experience story from David, who took part on Erasmus Mundus Master programme. It is a unique opportunity and lots of people don’t really know about this option. If you are interested in doing your Master programme in Psychology abroad, this might be very useful for you. David was so kind to share with us his struggles with application process, scholarships, finances, housing and to briefly describe his experiences in lectures, research and social life.

About David:

Being a contemplative and curious kid, I was amazed by the world of psychology ever since I started discovering it in high school. I was sure that this would be my field of study. When I moved to Italy for the first time, I was determined to work and study at the same time. I started out as a waiter, but my plan didn’t work out – this occupation just was not my cup of tea. What I did earn from that experience was the interest in the psychological aspects of people at work. So I did my undergraduate studies at Universitá degli Studi di Firenze and earned a degree in Scienze e Tecniche della Psicologia del Lavoro e delle Organizzazioni” (Science and Technique of Work and Organizational Psychology). I felt great about things that I’ve learned and chose to pursue this field of study further in the EM WOP-P Master

Structure of the Program

The WOP-P Master’s structure is rooted in its name. There are three main fields of psychology that are taught:

-Work Psychology studies the well-being of individuals at work. The topics typical for this field are stress and coping with it and psychological variables influencing working conditions.

-Organizational Psychology has to do with inter- and intragroup processes and the dynamics common for all types of organizations (i. e. not only corporate firms, but also NGOs, religious organizations, even organizing a party!)

-Personnel Psychology is about mostly about matching the demands of the labour market with what the individuals have to offer. Typical topics for this field are career counseling, personnel selection and human resource management in general.

-Methodology is vital to every science that aims towards an application in practice. You’ll get an extensive training in methodology, data analysis, APA style, and scientific writing in general. In my opinion, this is powerful stuff if you plan a career in the academia.
